Alright as everyone else said statistic is a new module, never did i imagine that i am going to use computer in nursing course dealing with such complicated datas. But things were easily manage with Ms Chia explanation as we go for her lessons. This is the first ICA that i have done so far by blogging and is also my first time blogging in my whole life. I sound like i total computer idiot. Never mind about that.
Collecting data can be fun especially when we get to build up team spirit with our group members and also those nice people who cooperated with us after we explained to them what is our project about and gain their consent to help by assuring that their identity will be kept anonymous. Though there are people who refuse to help after they promised but still there are many kind souls out there helping us to finish collecting our data.
This project really helps us a lot because we now can apply what we were taught in class to our project and do a real data collection and analysis, which will help us learn better from choosing samples to keying in data into SPSS and choosing certain tests ( for scale data) to help analyze our data collected.

Afterall it is a very good experience for me in my learning journey.
Thanks to all those that has participated and help in our study in a way or another and also to Ms Chia for your guidance

I must admit Statistics was NOT an easy module. One little slip and I'm totally lost, but thank god for a wonderful teacher, Miss Chia, and awesome group members. (:

Data collection was my most hated thing to do, because it was quite a scene when we had to ask random people in the library to help us with the measurements. I didn't enjoy that kind of attention, because I rather do things that are more "behind-the-scenes" kind of things. Which kind of surprises me as I'm more of an out-spoken person.

We faced many challenges in this project, especially in trying to get people to participate in our raw data collection. But I'm proud to say that, we completed it and I have learnt so much more about Statistics through this process. I feel that this is a really good way to learn things, as we get exposed to the things we learn.

YAY US! :D

Throughtout this project I understand that the different tests avaliable in SPSS are able to produce different results for different datas. Both our variables are scale data, therefore other tests like Phi, Contingency Coefficient and Cramer's V etc...can't be used for scale data. For scale data, we had to use the scatter plot, regression and perason's r to get the results for our research. There are also some minor obstacles like when I could not insert the graphs into the blog but I still manage to insert it with the help of my group members.

Through this project I have a deeper understanding about statisitcs it is not as difficult as it look like all you need to do is to slowly digest it and you will understand it. While doing this project, we did face some obstacles which we made ot thru as a group, so well done everyone without all of your help I would not be able to complete this project. Yay MP7 rocks =}
Ms Chia
Thank you for your guidance all these months.

As statistics in nursing is a new module we've got to start in this semester, it was quite stressful for us to think how to start our project. Collection of raw data was a new experience for all of us but it was quite interesting and challenging. However, we really had a wonderful time doing our project together.

Statistics is a subject that is different from the other nursing modules. This is a brand new module to me and it was difficult for me. The difficulty in doing this project for me was the data collection. We needed people whim we do not know to participate and to collect our data. After collecting the data we had to analysis the datas to find the relationship between the 2 variables. Building this blog was not easy but we MP7 did it! Thanks Ms Chia for your guidance.

First and foremost, this is our first time doing a Statistic project via blogging. I'm not an avid blogger myself, so it was quite a difficult task to manage. But we have done our best in producing this project for you.

Data collection was fun. Using 2 similar measuring tapes, and the participation of random people walking in and out the library, we managed to get our data. Then from there, Audrey tabulated the data using SPSS, producing the graphs, plots and the necessary information. Good job Audrey! Then we finalized everything and VOILA! =)

It was quite a fun albeit tedious process but we managed to finish the project. We learnt how to apply what we went through during the lectures and tutorials. It's not easy but hey, we've made it!

By doing this project, I had learn more about statistics in a fun way as we got to do a blog. We are able to learn what are the different tests avaliable and using the different types of tests we are able to test for the correlation between the 2 variables in our project. For example we can use the perason's r test for scale datas. Finally I think that thru this project it also build our teamwork as a team.

CoN cOn CONCLUSION =.= yay

In conclusion, we reject the null hypothesis because the P=0.000 < a="0.05).
Therefore, there is a positive significant relationship in a person's height(height) and the length of one tip of your finger to the other(length).

PEARSON'S R [roar we rock] =Q

r = 0.842 (there is a positive strong relationship between the 2 variables.)
n = 40 (sample size)
P = 0.000
Since P = 0.000< a="0.05)
Therefore we reject the null hypothesis

REGRESSION [regert like siao] =}

The formular is y=1.123x-17.663

SCATTERED [like hell] PLOT =P

The scatter plot shows a positive relationship between the height[inderpendent] and the length[dependent].
[PS: Ms Chia if you want to see a bigger picture if the scatter plot just click on the image.]

SYMMETRICAL or SKEWED ?????

To check for the skewness of the data, using the histogram with the norminal curve. Therefore after analyzing the data, results show that both variables are symmetrical.[ PS: Ms Chia you have to click on the image to see a bigger picture of our histogram and bell curve.]

Raw Data

This is our raw data of the research that we are doing. But due to the restricted space we had we were only able to show 30 out of our 40 sample data.
